“Just Like Sitting with the Teacher”: Personalising Feedback to Students Using Screencasting Video
Lesley will demonstrate how video feedback can enhance and personalise the feedback you provide to students on any written work. She will explain the advantages of providing feedback using video, and some of the techniques for screencasting and other uses of screencasting in and out of the classroom. She says “Students have told me it is ‘just like sitting with the teacher’”.

Overcoming ESL Reading Teachers’ Dilemmas: A Case Study of Bhutanese Classrooms
Teaching literature is particularly challenging in contexts where English is spoken as a foreign language, yet is the medium of instruction. Ugyen will show how a critical reading framework can provide a useful pedagogical tool for teachers and make English classes more engaging for students.

Current educational programs for gifted and high achieving students do not reflect the increasing number of EAL/D learners in Australian schools. Are EAL/D learners underachieving in our classrooms?
