In response to a highly critical Auditor’s report on the management of the last contract to deliver the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), a Parliamentary Inquiry has been set up. The AMEP provides English language tuition to approximately 60,000 adult migrant English language learners every year.
The submissions to this Inquiry, including from ACTA, tell the real and very difficult story of what has gone on in the AMEP since 2017. Go to Inquiry into the contract management frameworks operated by Commonwealth entities – Parliament of Australia (aph.gov.au) and click on the RHS link to Submissions. Aside from the ACTA submission, others on the AMEP are from Valerie Lester, Dr Chris Corbel and 4 name withheld.
Question:why are there so few submissions? Answer: because of the secrecy surrounding contracting for government programs and the penalties that those who know would face if they were known to have spoken out.
